Hawaiian monk Seals

Did you know: The Hawaiian monk seal is found on small, uninhabited islands and atolls of the northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Its skin appears gray with silver-gray underparts. Adults can grow up to seven feet in length and can weigh as much as 600 lb. Females are larger than males. The seals prefer to mate in the water. Males outnumber females and have been seen mobbing females in eagerness to mate, sometimes seriously hurting the females. Females give birth to one pup after a gestation period of 11 months. There are less than 1000 Hawaiian monk seals left in the wild. – Snugger

Skin Infection in Children

Did you Know: Impetigo is a bacterial skin infection. It’s the third most common skin condition in children, seen most often in children aged 2 to 6 years. It’s very contagious, and adults can get it, too. Impetigo appears on the skin as clusters of itchy little bumps or sores that weep fluid, forming a honey-colored crust over them. Touching the fluid from the sores can spread an impetigo infection to the skin on different parts of the child’s body, as well as to other people.

Prescription antibiotics are needed to clear up an impetigo infection. The sores heal without causing scars. – Wisp

The Importance of Education

Did you know: Education is important for every child in the world. It makes one able to understand what is happening around us logically and clearly. An educated child has the ability to take viable decisions and make right moves at the right time. Existence without education is just like fecund land. Education not only enables individuals to put their potential to best use and do something productive in the upcoming future, but also plays a main role in shaping an individual to be a better, responsible citizen and an active member of the society. The golden lion Tamarin (also called the golden lion marmoset) is a small, squirrel-sized mammal with a lion-like mane. Tamarins live in small family groups. They are diurnal (most active during the day); at night, they rest in the cavity of a tree. The life span is about 15 years. They are in danger of extinction due to loss of habitat as their forest home is being cleared. They live in coastal tropical rainforests in eastern Brazil, South America. Tamarins use their claws to dig for insects in the bark of trees. – Snugger

Anticipate recycling-

In addition to buying recycled goods, keep a keen eye out for recyclable goods. Whenever you purchase something packaged, think about how you can reuse the packaging, return it to a shipping store for reuse, or try to otherwise recycle it. If you get something likely to run down or wear out over time, such as an electronic component, give preference to the model that can be easily upgraded or cannibalized for parts so that you don’t have to junk the whole thing if one part breaks. become a recycling expert

Did you know: Your family can become waste-stream analysts. To better understand the kind of materials that enter and leave your home, office, or school, consider conducting a waste audit. Set a span of time like a week or a month, and separate your waste categories. Weigh the different kinds of material flows that go out the door (landfill waste, organic compost, aluminum, recyclable plastic, reusable material, etc.). Design a “material recovery” program that minimizes the amount going to the landfill. This is a great exercise to do with kids. Tweet
